Each of the 22 students (100%) demonstrated improvement in areas of focused observation, interpreting data, and well-planned intervention evidenced by improved scores on the Tanner Model rubric tool when using the Nurse Report/Hand-Off Sheet. Students using only the Concept Map showed no observed improvement and Tanner scores were remarkably lower for all students (100%). Nursing students rated the Nurse Report/Handoff Sheet as “accomplished” and “exemplary,” reporting it as “helpful for prioritizing” and “helpful in developing diagnosis and nursing treatment plans.” The Nurse Report/Handoff Sheet is more effective for students in building clinical judgment skills than the traditional Concept Map
