Quality of Work-Life in Nursing

Navales, J. V., Jallow, A. W., Lai, C. Y., Liu, C. Y., & Chen, S. W. (2021). Relationship between quality of nursing work life and uniformed nurses’ attitudes and practices related to covid-19 in the Philippines: A cross-sectional study. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 18(19), 9953. https://doi.org/10.3390/ijerph18199953

The article focuses on the role of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines. While the disease was spreading through the population, some nurses were educated about the illness, and some needed to take their time to educate themselves about the impact of COVID-19 (Navales et al., 2021). The study looks at the relationship between the quality of nursing work life, nurses’ attitudes, and the practices they implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researchers used a descriptive cross-sectional design where participants were recruited from four government hospitals within the Manila metropolitan area in the Philippines (Navales et al., 2021). The participants were offered an online survey, a demographic questionnaire, and a quality of the nursing work-life questionnaire. To assess the results, the research participants used an independent t-test, a Pearson correlation coefficient, descriptive statistics, and a hierarchical linear regression formula to analyze the study results correctly (Navales et al., 2021). The findings were exciting and would help create a new nursing culture in the Philippines.

The information is brilliant in nursing because it highlights the role of education in nursing. The research shows how recklessly uneducated nurses would expose themselves to the dangers of COVID-19, in some instances without proper gear, because of a lack of adequate information concerning the virus (Navales et al., 2021). The educated nurses were calculated in their approach and did not place themselves in harm’s way. The results involved participants who were not certified in their professions, and their age was 29 (Navales et al., 2021). The researchers found that uneducated nurses dedicated themselves to serving the people during the pandemic without the necessary protections and that it would be essential to equip them in the future (Navales et al., 2021). The results are valid because the article is peer-reviewed, and the full results are published in the article, which one can access to understand how the actual results were. I agree with the results because lack of information can make people commit themselves to causes they are unaware of in a manner they would not if they were aware of all the risks associated with the events or situations they were chasing.
