John is a 46-year-old truck driver who typically drives a few days a week away from home and comes home once a week to his wife and kids. His wife is a stay-at-home mother, and they have four children, a daughter who is twelve, twin boys who are eight, and a nine-month-old son. His older daughter enjoys gymnastics and dancing, while his boys love swimming and karate and practice at the YMCA in their community. As a long-haul truck driver, John spends hours behind the wheel and almost always orders high-calorie fast foods via drive-through for his convenience. John has been a smoker for the last 16 years and has struggled to keep his weight off lately. He has no time for exercise when he comes home and lives a sedentary lifestyle on his days off.Â
John can only come home to his wife and kids twice a week since he is the primary breadwinner. His daughter seems to detach herself emotionally from her dad since he is away from home most days.
