Nursing organizations, political activism and advocacy, and health care systems all play a big role in nursing excellence. They have different missions, but they are for the benefit of nurses and patients. The purpose of this discussion post is to discuss two organizations that are important to nursing excellence.

The first organization I will discuss is the National League for Nursing. Their purpose is to promote excellence in nursing education in order to build a strong nursing workforce to better the health of people. It plays a role in nursing education by offering professional development to nurses such as CE credits, conferences, and scholarships. The National League for Nursing plays a role in nursing research by providing grants for nurse researchers. This organization provides advocacy as part of nursing excellence. I would support the National League for Nursing because it is a good support resource for nurses. The political power of nurses can happen when individual nurses, join, support, and engage with their professional nursing organizations (Mason et al., 2020).

The second organization I will discuss is The Joint Commission. Their purpose is to improve health care by holding it to a high standard. They make sure it is safe and effective but of the highest quality. The Joint Commission impacts nursing practice by observing if there are any areas for improvement and providing feedback. They play a role in nursing education by utilizing nurses as surveyors to observe and help develop standards. They play a role in nursing research because they encourage hospitals to use data to improve patient care. The Joint Commission provides a resource for the healthcare system. As a nurse, I provide support to this organization because it wants the best care for patients just like I do.

In conclusion, nursing excellence has a variety of support systems in place. Healthcare organizations may have different missions, but they have one goal. Ensuring the safety of healthcare staff and patients is a common effort of all health care organizations (Siewert et al., 2018). I know that as a nurse, I feel more confident and comfortable when at my workplace or as a patient, knowing that these organizations exist.
