lives alone in council owned flat on the 10th floor of a block of flats.

Sees his mother once a week when she visits him she has a key as he does not always answer the door.

Attends the bridge project for support with substance misuse issues on a sporadic basis.
Scenario information
Simon has been informally admitted to an assessment and treatment unit at the local mental health care hospital. He has just been admitted due to a relapse in his mental health and is presenting with psychotic symptom. He has presented with difficulties in maintaining his accommodation and personal hygiene.Â

His warden has stated that he may not be suitable return to his accommodation to the poor maintenance and him being more at risk. There is an identified flat which his mother has recommended which is close to her house. Simon has stated that he wants to return to his original flat.

A capacity assessment has been undertaken to assess his ability to make the decision as to where he lives, and it is deemed that he doesn’t currently have capacity to make this decision as he does not understand the risks if he continues to live alone.Â
