In an organization, silos have been around for a while and can impede change. What has been stated reminds me of Edgar Schein, another prominent scientist specializing in Organizational culture. A couple of his major tenets focus on the value of internal and external culture on organizational change. Schein believes that a positive internal culture is primary due to successful change processes. According to Schein, this is a leader who is very aware of the internal culture—the groups and sub-groups of the organization. I agree, when a leader is in tune with the internal culture of the organization positive outcomes are much improved. What suggestions do you have in measuring/assessing the culture of an organization to determine if it is ready for change?
