Professional Information – Describe and explain how your work history and experiences have prepared you for the Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Masters certificate program. What are your goals after graduation?Â
Relevant information:
7 years psychiatric inpatient nurse
Currently: Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner student. Will be graduating from PMHNP in May of 2023. Applying to the FNP program which begins August 2023.
I do not have medical surgical unit experience however I did do 75 hours of family practice at the urgent care
After graduation and becoming licensed as a PMHNP student I do want to continue my education and educate myself further in the Family Nurse Practice Post-Master’s program so I can treat the person as a whole. Mind body and spirit.
Personal Information – Describe experiences that influenced your decision and identify people who will be a support/resource for you.
My kids 2 yr old daughter and 3-year-old son inspire me to advance in my career .
My parents who only made it as far receiving their high school diploma
My husbands aunt who has been nothing less than supportive in helping take care of my kids while I have been attending school
I would like to do this now while my children are still young because I feel in a few years I want to be able to focus on their growth and I do want them to use my career decisions and going back to school as a guiding path for themselves. I want them to know they can achieve and be successful as long as they dedicate themselves to what they love.
Education Plan – Graduate school is rigorous and demands a great deal of time. what is a plan for managing personal, professional and academic responsibilities and commitments?
My family, my husband, his aunt. I know it will be challenging but I also know I have had many challenging moments during my time at this **** master’s program while studying for my PMHNP, but I did not quit. Therefore, I know I will not quit FNP program
