Nursing informatics has improved communication between physicians and staff alike (Adelphi University, 2020, para. 15). Nurses can now call, text, email, or page a physician to get orders for a patient using a mobile device. Nurses can also use the same mobile device to send an alert to staff members if they require assistance. Nursing informatics has also expanded education (Quinn, 2017, para. 2). An example would accessing the Intranet to look up specific conditions, medications, or procedures provides nurses with support and assistance for topics they may not be familiar with. Accessing Krames or Clinical Pharmacology would allow a nurse to look up a topic or medication with specific guidelines to provide material for patients who may have questions about medications or procedures as well.
