CASE  No. 6
A 50-year-old patient was admitted with complaints of paroxysmal cough with a
small amount of mucopurulent sputum, general malaise, sweating, shortness of
breath with significant physical exertion.
He considers himself ill for about 10 years, when for the first time after
hypothermia he began to worry about coughing with the release of light sputum,
sweating. Since then, repeatedly with a frequency of 2-3 times a year, mainly in
spring and autumn, the above complaints began to disturb. Exacerbations of the
disease last about 3-4 weeks. Accompanied by a cough, first dry paroxysmal, and
then with the release of a small amount of mucopurulent sputum. Moreover, the
cough is more intense in the morning, especially after waking up. He did not seek
medical help.
Independently took expectorant herbs, breast fees with a positive effect. Over
time, during exacerbations of the disease, the general state of health began to
suffer – general weakness, sweating appeared. Feeling worse for about 2 weeks.
Due to the fact that shortness of breath during physical exertion joined the usual
symptoms, he sought medical help.
Objectively: the general condition is satisfactory. The thorax is of normosthenic
type, evenly participates in the act of breathing with both halves, respiratory rate
is 18 per minute, breathing is of medium depth, rhythmic. On palpation, the voice
trembling was not changed, a clear pulmonary sound was determined percussion
over the entire surface of the lungs, hard breathing was heard on auscultation, a
lot of dry buzzing rales, bronchophony was not changed.
