How do you apply these project implementation principles – strategic planning, assessment, and evaluation – and applied management techniques and/or theories to a Special Care Unit of a Nursing facility? Â I can’t think of a theory regarding a nursing facility care unit implementing the care of a demented patient who falls a lot and now needs a hip replacement. This is some of the material regarding this Special Care Unit but I can’t come up with a theory.

The EPSM includes two primary approaches to the management of emotional and physical support. The first is through implementing an emotional trigger chart for all residents who experience memory loss. When an episode happens that a resident is forgetful or confused, evaluate resident, and approach with routine memory exercises that will digitate residents. The second approach is long-term management. Here, screening at admission, quarterly, annually and change of condition are key in identifying residents that are emotionally and physically incapacitated. Through these processes, routines will be customized for each resident, based on their past experiences and physical disabilities. For example: Mary is a resident who used to knit, sew, crochet, and cook. A routine day for her could be that one or more of those activities are incorporated into her daily schedule. This could help bring back cognitive stability. Staff should monitor and manage the residents’ response, and revise routine as needed. These approaches are fundamental to keeping residents active and decreasing early deterioration.
