The quality of nursing work life is defined as the extent to which nurses can meet critical personal requirements while also meeting the organization’s goals (Kaddourah et al., 2018). Organizations can learn how workplace issues affect nurse job satisfaction and commitment by assessing the quality of work-life in nursing (Kaddourah et al., 2018). According to Nowrouzi et al., (2016), nurse’s quality of work life, as well as their physical and psychological well-being are usually affected by their work environment. Therefore, it is important for establishments to provide a good quality of work-life in to attract new staff and retain existing ones (Kaddourah et al., 2018).

The goal of the reviewed article was to conduct a thorough literature review on nurses’ work-life quality predictors in order to identify a comprehensive set of Quality work-life predictors for nurses in the United States and Canada (Nowrouzi et al., 2016). The purpose of this study was to examine literature from 2004 to 2014 that looked into the impact of internal and external variables on nurses’ work-life quality in the United States and Canada. Using publications from 2004 to 2014, contributory factors to the quality of life of American and Canadian nurses were investigated (Nowrouzi et al., 2016). Interestingly, the review was organized around the Work Disability Prevention Framework with sixty-six articles chosen for consideration. According to the result of the finding, newly graduated nurses have a consistently poor work-life balance (Nowrouzi et al., 2016). After only one-year, recent graduates’ job satisfaction and work ability have plummeted. Hence, they must learn quickly in order to improve their comfort at work. Their lack of experience, lack of ongoing education, and poor relationships with their coworkers all predicted a low-quality work-life.

However, some of this is unavoidable as they enter the workforce and develop their clinical nursing skills (Nowrouzi et al., 2016). According to the literature, changes in the workplace and across the healthcare system are required to improve nurses’ quality of life at work. One strategy would be the implementation and evaluation of continuing education programs in the workplace (Nowrouzi et al., 2016). Focusing on new nursing graduates is critical for all nurses’ job satisfaction because their technical skills are needed for future healthcare practices, therefore, an adequate number of nurses is needed to meet the growing demands of health care workers (Nowrouzi et al., 2016). Also, increased financial compensation was also suggested as one way to improve new nursing graduates’ quality of life at work, similarly, positive collegial connections tend to empower nurses, and improves work-life quality parameters. However, negative or aggressive attitudes should be avoided, and any nurse who exhibits these traits should be counselled (Nowrouzi et al., 2016).

In conclusion, based on my experience as a third-semester nursing student with a hospital placement, I agree that the findings of this paper are correct. I have seen and heard of recent graduates expressing fatigue as a result of some of the factors discussed in the reviewed article. I am confident that the proposed initiatives will help nurses to have a better work-life balance.
