ScenarioÂ
John is 19 years old. He has not lived at home since he left school at 15. He is a rough sleeper with a long history of complex disorders. He has a dual diagnosis of drug dependency and mental health disorders. He is supposed to take antipsychotic medication but does not do so unless reminded or in hospital. When unmedicated, he has paranoid delusions that he is being watched or followed and has previously been charged with a minor assault because of this. He has a grade ten qualification and has never worked. He may be unfit to work or study. He is not receiving any benefits and lives by begging and stealing. John has attended the service today because one of his street “friends” were coming and dragged him along. John was initially reluctant but has agreed to a case management assessment of his circumstances.
