Clinical discussion: A clinical gap in the emergency department is how patients who visit the emergency department fail to follow up with primary doctors when they have chronic health issues. Patients want to be treated as though they are at a primary care physician’s office. While many assume it is because patients lack insurance or money, the research literature lacks evidence.Â
